MULTI-DISCIPLINARY ENGINEER

Eileen Kim is the Co-Founder of Denslow Cattle Company, a small engineering business based in Alamosa, Colorado. A second-generation Korean-American born to South Korean immigrants in New York City, she is a highly self-motivated engineer with years of experience in the aerospace industry, particularly within Systems, Integration & Test Engineering. Eileen is an enthusiastic team player with a positive mindset for all types of challenges and an appetite for continuous growth.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

Denslow Cattle Company

Co-Founder, Engineer (2021 - Present)

Eileen is Co-Founder (alongside Carl Denslow) of Denslow Cattle Company, a technology company founded by veteran aerospace engineers, aiming to solve challenging problems across multiple industries. The team seeks to apply its skillset to filling technological gaps in automation and data reduction and analysis.

Zone 5 Technologies

Integration & Test Lead, Engineer (2018 – 2021)

As Integration & Test Lead, Eileen was responsible for implementing continuous improvement practices to better lead and execute test efforts across numerous military and commercial UAS. Eileen has designed, directed, and executed ground and flight test plans for platforms such as counter-UAS VTOL rotorcrafts with advanced tracking capabilities, unmanned long-endurance swarming munitions. As both engineer and lead, Eileen supported development of unmanned subsystems such as autopilot, payload, propulsion, networking & communications, and ground control at all stages of development, culminating in full vehicle test and customer demonstration. In efforts to improve and streamline test processes, Eileen has implemented automated software tools such as control surface BIT, data processing for flight review, and automated code and report generation. As an individual contributor, Eileen has supported flight controls development, including autopilot architectural design and simulation.

Lockheed Martin

As a participant and alumna of Lockheed Martin’s Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP) – a rotation-based program for early career engineers, Eileen served as a multi-disciplinary engineer for several varied programs.

Systems Engineer, Integration & Test Engineer (2017 – 2018)

Eileen’s hunger for bigger challenges brought her to San Luis Obispo, CA, where she was an individual contributor for the full system development and integration of a Group 3 UAS. In her first year with the program, Eileen supported Systems Engineering efforts. She developed and tracked requirements through design process to test, conducted data review for multiple systems after ground and flight testing, and chaired interdisciplinary meetings to establish program priorities within schedule and resource constraints. Additionally, Eileen managed Program Trouble Reports (PTR) system used by employees across multiple sites and developed and taught training material for the PTR system. Eileen modified and developed numerous site processes for more efficient and painless execution.

In her second year with the program, Eileen served as an integration & test engineer, responsible for supporting the entirety of the test program, from hardware-in-the-loop testing, subsystem/vehicle ground test, and vehicle flight test. She coordinated with interdisciplinary stakeholders, including IPT leads, to develop test points, events, and schedule. Developed and tracked Functional Elements and program’s Functional Integration Plan from system roadmap through development, based on system requirements, and system roadmap. Designed and conducted lab and ground test cards across multiple systems, culminating in full-system regression testing. Developed automated data review tools for ground and flight test.

Mechanical Engineer (2015 - 2016)

Eileen began her post-graduate engineering career as a mechanical engineer for Lockheed Martin’s Mission Systems and Training (MST) division in Owego, NY. She supported Platform Installation Engineering for a high-visibility rotorcraft program by designing and modelling mechanical and electrical packaging components and assemblies to install line-replaceable units (LRUs) on the Sikorsky S-92 aircraft. Interfaced with customer, electrical, structural analysis, design, and operations groups to iterate on design and meet system requirements. Managed weight and CG allowances for mission systems rack and operator console for monthly customer reports.

Engineering Intern (2014)

Eileen kicked off her career with Lockheed Martin as an engineering intern. She supported co-site analysis and modelling onboarding for the Platform Installation Engineering group and executed Reliability & Maintainability analyses to identify opportunities for increased system reliability on the Remote Minehunting System (RMS).
